We love local here at Lincolnshire Co-op, which means you can always find the perfect product that was created just down the road. And that includes some chutneys with a kick...
David Esberger, a self-confessed ‘mad inventor’, has been churning out chilli chutneys in Lincoln for almost 50 years.
He was inspired to create his business, ‘Just Like Your Grannies’, so he could share his creations with other flavour fanatics. He now blends and packs over 80 cases of chutney a month for Lincolnshire Co-op.
As well as sourcing local Bramley apples, David grows chillies close to home and delicately balances the heat of some of the world’s most fiery chillies with fruity flavours so they can be paired with cheeses, crackers and much more.
Over the past year, David has updated his packaging and transformed his chutneys so they're now gluten free.
David said: "A lot of people don't realise that most chutney's contain gluten, so now I'm really pleased that more local people can enjoy my creations."
Just Like Your Grannies Scotch Bonnet and Naga Chill chutneys are currently stocked across 70 of Lincolnshire Co-op’s food stores through the Love Local range.
