Superhero capes and smoothies

Superhero-capes-2.jpg

Have a crafty half term with your little ones by making these superhero capes...and get a free fruit smoothie at the Pink Pig Farm near Scunthorpe too.

They're super easy to make and will get your little superheroes into character and zooming around saving the world in no time!

What you'll need:

  • Material - any kind, any colour but big enough to fit around your superhero's shoulders
  • Felt
  • Paint or fabric pens
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors
  • Glitter glue/pens
  • Pipe cleaners, pom poms, sequins - anything you would like to use to decorate
  • String or ribbon

What to do:

  1. Make sure your material is smooth and on a flat surface
  2. Think of what design you would like to do - you could make up a character of your own, like we have, or you could use the designs of your favourite superhero.
  3. Cut your material into a cape shape - traditionally this is narrower at the top and comes down to your knees - but it can be any shape or length you like. Why not give it some jagged edges for extra POW!
  4. Next, it's time to get creative - paint, draw, colour, stick anything you like onto the back of the cape. You could cut out your favourite superhero's symbol from felt and stick this on with the fabric glue, or use lots of shiny stickers and gems to give it a dazzling effect.
  5. Leave your cape to dry - this might need to be over night if you've used a lot of paint and glue.
  6. Once dry, you can either tie your cape around your shoulders using the ends of the material, or you can use a hole punch to make two holes in the ends and thread some material/ribbon/string through each hole to make a neck tie.
  7. If you have any material leftover you could also make an eye mask to match your cap!

Why not get your little superheroes to show off their capes to our colleagues when they collect their free fruit this week or with it being half term, visit the Pink Pig Farm near Scunthorpe.
