Lincolnshire Co-op is getting into the spirit of the season by gifting 200 turkeys to ten local homelessness charities, so people in accommodation can enjoy a festive feast this Christmas.
This follows on from a £140,000 donation worth of food, household goods and toiletries to homelessness charities at the beginning of December, which kicked off a new fundraising campaign.
During December, January and February, 14 homelessness charities will be Lincolnshire Co-op's chosen Community Champions.
It means that every time a member shops using their dividend card, a donation will be made to one of those charities. Staff fundraising and the proceeds for the carrier bag levy will also go into the pot.
Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Engagement Manager Sam Turner said: “We know that the Christmas period can be a difficult time for many, especially those without a home. We’re delighted to donate 200 turkeys so people in accommodation ran by these worthy charities can enjoy a warm, festive meal.”
