A £2.1m food store and pharmacy in Hykeham will soon welcome people inside for the first time after a major investment by Lincolnshire Co-op.

The Society’s newly-built food store on Newark Road has created 15 new jobs in the area. It’ll provide a range of services including an instore bakery, takeaway Costa Coffee and hot food-to-go, plus convenient meal options, products from the Love Local range and a selection of chilled beers and wines.

It’ll also be home to Lincolnshire Co-op’s pharmacy and podiatry service, which will move from its current location further along Newark Road.

There’ll be a more accessible private consultation room and a bigger dispensary inside the new pharmacy to help care for people’s health and wellbeing.

A 21-space car park including two disabled spaces will provide parking for customers when the hub opens on Thursday 21st March. Two local charities will each be presented with a £500 donation at an official opening celebration the following week.

Food Store Manager Adam Waddingham said: “It’s exciting to be opening a new food store to provide valued services to people in and around Hykeham. We’re all eager to welcome people in and get started.”

Health Champion and Trainee Dispenser at Crossroads Pharmacy Laura Malin said: “As a team we’re pleased to be moving to a new location and facilities which will help us serve the community.

“Bringing the food store and pharmacy together means customers can get everything they need in one place.”

The hub on Newark Road sits on a site which was previously a used car dealership and was bought by the Society after the business owners took the decision to retire.

Lincolnshire Co-op will continue to run its successful food store, post office and pharmacy at the Hykeham Green Shopping Centre on the junction of Moor Lane and Lincoln Road.
