Local groups and organisations are being encouraged to put themselves forward for Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme, which could see them benefit from thousands of pounds.

Applications are currently open for local good causes who wish to be supported between September and December 2017.

Any organisation that does good work in its community can apply, such as scout and brownie groups, support groups, sport clubs, luncheon clubs, schools, health work support and many more.

The Community Champions scheme is one of the ways that Lincolnshire Co-op shares its profits. Every time a member shops at an outlet using their dividend card, a donation goes to the chosen Champion at that time. Money from the carrier bag levy and fundraising activities will also go directly to the chosen Champions.

In 2016, over £103,000 was shared between local community groups as well as donations of £86,000 to health charities, Headway and Rethink Mental Illness, and over £80,000 for wildlife trusts. Money is currently being raised for local homelessness charities.

Lincolnshire Co-op Community Engagement Manager Sam Turner said: “Our Community Champions scheme is a fantastic way to raise a lot of money for some really worthwhile causes.

“Last year a significant amount was raised for dozens of local organisations and we hope to find more groups who could benefit the way others have.

“Just fill out a form and you could be one of our Community Champions – simple!”

To apply or for more details about the scheme, please contact Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community team on 01522 544 632 or membershipandcommunity@lincolnshire.coop and put your local cause forward.
