More people have stepped onto the scales feeling happier and healthier thanks to a free, 12 week weight management scheme run by Lincolnshire Co-op.
The plan helps people lose weight steadily and safely with the support of colleagues in the Society's pharmacies, and when combined with the willpower of patients on the programme, the help changes lives.
Christine Carr is Health Champion at Lincolnshire Co-op's Hunstanton Pharmacy in Norfolk and is one of three colleagues who run the programme there.
“It’s really satisfying when you see participants three months later and they’ve managed to maintain their weight or lose even more,” she said.
Retired detective sergeant and former triple heart bypass patient Tom Neill found the plan and support from Hunstanton Pharmacy so effective, he’s still going!
Thanks to the team’s help, and support from his wife who also took part, he lost over a stone during the 12-week programme and still pops in for a weekly chat and advice.
“The team have a great sense of humour – they make it an enjoyable experience,” he said.
“I was 21 stone and six or seven lbs before, and I’ve lost just over a stone.
“Me and my wife go to Tenerife for two weeks each year, and we know that’s a fixed date in our minds.
“But it’s not really the image factor for me. The biggest thing is I feel better in myself. I feel more awake, more alert and I have more energy.”
