UPDATED: 28th October 2026

Spilsby Pharmacy is moving from its current location on High Street to Post Office Lane, inside the same premises as our Spilsby Food Store and Community Library.

Relocating the outlet creates a one-stop destination for key services, and the new purpose-built pharmacy offers benefits for both patients and colleagues, as facilities will be improved and an additional consultation room will be created.

The food store will remain open as usual throughout the work, however the library will need to temporarily close from Wednesday 4th November and will reopen mid-December.

Colleagues will continue to support patients with prescriptions and healthcare services from the existing Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacy on High Street, up until its relocation.

At this time, patients will be automatically transferred to the new pharmacy, enabling them to continue collecting prescriptions and accessing services without disruption.

The relocation is expected to complete in January 2027 – read the FAQs below to find out more.

FAQs

Q. Why is Spilsby Pharmacy relocating?

A. Relocating the pharmacy will provide the local community with a new purpose-bult pharmacy, that will transform health care services for Spilsby.

The new pharmacy will also be larger than the current branch, creating space for two private consultation rooms, compared to just one at the existing branch.

Relocating the pharmacy into the same premises as the library and food store will also create a one-stop destination for key local services.

Q. Where is Spilsby Pharmacy relocating to?

A. Spilsby Pharmacy will be relocating to Post Office Lane, inside the same premises as our Spilsby Food Store and Community Library.

Q. When will the new pharmacy open?

A. The new pharmacy is expected to open in January 2027. The pre-existing branch on High Street will remain open until its relocation.

Q. Will the pharmacy close while work completes?

A. No. The pharmacy will be operating business as usual from its current premise on High Street in Spilsby while work is taking place.

Q. How long will the relocation take?

A. Work will begin at the start of November and is expected to complete in January 2027.

To allow work to complete, the Community Library will be closed from Wednesday 4th November and is expected to reopen mid-December.

Q. Will the relocation impact the pharmacy team?

A. All colleagues from the current pharmacy will move to the new branch.

Q. What healthcare services will be available at the new pharmacy?

A. While the current pharmacy has just one consultation room, the new pharmacy will feature two rooms, with expanded space for healthcare services and enhanced dispensary and medication storage facilities.

Patients will continue to be able to collect prescriptions and purchase over-the-counter medications, as well as accessing Pharmacy First services, blood pressure checks, vaccinations, and much more.

Q. Will parking be available at the new pharmacy?

A. The premises has its own car park including disabled park which isn’t available at the current Spilsby Pharmacy. There’s also additional free parking opposite the building.

Q. I’m a patient at your current Spilsby Pharmacy. How do I move to the new pharmacy?

A. All patients will be automatically transferred to the new premises with our Spilsby Pharmacy team when work is complete, so they can continue to collect prescriptions and access services without disruptions.

Q. What will happen to the premises on High Street after the relocation of the pharmacy?

A. We are currently exploring options to let out the building.

Q. Will the relocation impact the community library?

A. For the move to happen, the community library will be closed from Monday 9th November and will reopen with the pharmacy mid-December.

During this time, you can access nearby library services in Burgh le Marsh, Alford, Wainfleet, Horncastle and Ingoldmells.

To make room for the new pharmacy the library will lose up to 375 square feet of floor area, but it will keep the same amount of bookshelf space.

The library will also benefit from a refresh, including redecoration and a new ceiling and flooring. The relocation of the pharmacy is also expected to encourage more people to make use of the library’s services.

Q. What's happening to the library's Community Cuppa?

A. The library will no longer be able to accommodate the weekly Community Cuppa, and alternative locations are being explored.

The last Community Cuppa at Spilsby Library will take place on Thursday 29th October.

We have Community Cuppa’s nearby in Stickney, Burgh Le Marsh and Irby in the Marsh that you can attend in the meantime. Find out more here: https://www.lincolnshire.coop/community/community-cuppa

Q. Will the library still have a customer toilet?

A. As part of the work taking place to support the installation of the new pharmacy, the public toilet in the library will need to be removed.

We recognise that this may be disappointing for some visitors, however, the relocation will help us to drastically improve pharmacy facilities, supporting health and wellbeing locally.

Q. I currently have a book loaned out from the library. When should I return this?

A.  People who currently have books loaned out can return them directly to the library until Wednesday 4th November.

During the library closure, books can be returned to:

Better Library, Horncastle – Wharf Road, LN9 5HL

Better Library, Burgh le Marsh – Tinkers Green, Jacksons Lane, PE24 5LA

Q. Will the relocation impact the food store?

A. The food store will remain open as usual throughout the relocation.

The relocation will use around 400 square feet of the shop’s warehouse, which is currently much larger than needed. Customer space and stock on the shop floor will be unaffected by this.
