Personal memorials, crafted with care
When you entrust Lincolnshire Co‑op with a memorial for your loved one, we support you at every stage of the process. Our aim is to give you peace of mind, ensuring you have nothing more to worry about than is absolutely necessary.
For over 125 years, we’ve supported families across Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire and the surrounding areas. Our service is personal, professional and rooted in the communities we serve. Lincolnshire Co‑op members also receive 1% cashback on our memorial charges (excluding cemetery or churchyard fees).
We work with highly trained and qualified memorial masons who create a full range of personalised memorials and can also restore existing stones, ensuring they remain a fitting tribute for generations to come.
Every person is unique, and every memorial can be too. We believe a memorial should reflect the individual it honours, which is why our colleagues take the time to understand your wishes and ensure every detail is considered.
All memorials are ordered to your exact requirements and in line with local cemetery and churchyard regulations.
The willcox collection
We are proud to present The Willcox Collection, a carefully curated range of high‑quality memorials suitable for both cemeteries and churchyards. With a wide choice of materials, designs and finishes.
You can personalise your memorial with a variety of emblems, ornaments and decorative features. A skilled craftsperson can also create bespoke designs if you have something unique in mind. If you need guidance at any stage, our team is always here to help.
Choosing a memorial
Selecting a memorial can feel overwhelming, especially with so many options available. We’re here to guide you through the process and help you choose something that truly reflects the person being commemorated.
Things to consider:
Regulations
Churchyards and cemeteries have rules governing the size, material and design of memorials. Your local burial authority or stonemason can provide this information, and we will help ensure your memorial meets all requirements.
Materials
Our memorials are available in granite, marble and a range of natural stones.
Each material has its own characteristics:
Granite is extremely durable and weathers well, though some types may show colour variation when wet.
Marble and sandstone are beautiful when new but are softer and more porous, meaning they naturally darken and change over time.
We can guide you through the options and help you choose the material that best suits your needs.
Lettering
We offer a variety of lettering styles, including gilding with gold leaf, painted lettering and sand‑blast finishes. Our team can advise on the most suitable option for your chosen material and design.
Maintenance
Different materials require different levels of care. Understanding this from the outset can help you choose a memorial that remains in the best possible condition for years to come.
Inscription wording
Finding the right words can be one of the most emotional parts of choosing a memorial. We offer guidance to help you create an inscription that feels meaningful and appropriate. Please note that cemetery and churchyard regulations may limit certain wording.
A typical inscription may include:
Lead‑in line A short introduction
Name lines Usually the largest text
Dates Birth, death or age
Personal description Relationships or roles
Epitaph A final message or tribute
Craftsmanship & techniques
CNC carving
Modern technology allows us to enhance traditional masonry skills. Computer‑aided design and precision machinery create detailed relief carvings that can be left natural or hand‑painted by our skilled artists.
CNC lettering
This technique produces deep, crisp V‑cut lettering with greater impact than traditional sand‑blasted inscriptions.
Rustic and hand‑carved memorials
For families seeking something truly unique, our masons can hand‑carve bespoke designs, from simple motifs to fully sculpted angels.
Full‑length kerb sets
Kerb sets frame the entire grave space and can be personalised with chippings, ornamentation or additional inscriptions.
Chippings
High‑quality coloured chippings can enhance a kerbed memorial while requiring minimal maintenance. A variety of colours are available to help you create a truly personal tribute.
Book memorials
Shaped like an open book, these memorials offer a symbolic and elegant tribute.
Heart memorials
A gentle and expressive design, often chosen for its warmth and sentiment.
Churchyard memorials
Crafted to meet churchyard regulations while still offering opportunities for personalisation.
Individual and children’s memorials
We offer a sensitive and thoughtful range of designs to honour loved ones of all ages.
Cremation memorials
Smaller memorials designed specifically for cremation plots.
Ornamentation
Artwork can add a deeply personal touch to a memorial. Our artists and masons use a range of techniques, including sandblasting, laser etching and hand‑painting, to create meaningful designs. These can be tailored to reflect hobbies, beliefs, interests or cherished memories.
Bronzes
Bronze ornaments offer another way to personalise a memorial. A wide selection is available on request.
