Soak up sunny Sorrento

What springs to mind when you think of Italy? If you’re anything like us, it’s pizza and pasta galore! Sorrento is right in the culinary heartland of Italy – the Napolitana Pizza was invented nearby and it boasts some of the most delicious fresh seafood in the world.

It’s also right on the coast, with magnificent views across the Bay of Naples towards Vesuvius and Pompeii, the perfect place to soak up some sun – and some culture.

Drink in the history of the area at the Bellevue Syrene, a magnificent hotel offered by Kuoni, which stands on the site of ancient Roman remains. Many of the Roman Empire’s most powerful emperors are believed to have stayed here, but never fear, accommodation these days is seriously up to date.

Offering stunning views and grand rooms, it’s the ultimate in luxury making it a great place to celebrate a special occasion.

For more Roman remains check out the ancient city of Pompeii, frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Buildings and artefacts were perfectly preserved beneath many layers of ash, providing a fascinating insight into life at the time.

Mount Vesuvius is still an active volcano and it’s possible to climb up to the crater – don’t expect molten lava though, the most impressive thing you’re likely to see is some steam and smoke.

It’s not all culture, in Sorrento town centre you’ll also find an array of bars, restaurants and coffee shops in which to while away the hours. Munch on a gelato while you peruse the souvenir shops or book yourself in for a cooking lesson and learn to make pizza just like Mama.

If you fancy an Italian adventure, pop into your local Lincolnshire Co-op travel branch to speak to one of our friendly colleagues about what we can do for you. If you book for summer 2016 before Feb 1st, you could bag free spending money too!
