Dying matters awareness week

There are two inevitable events in our lives; birth and death. The first, we plan for and celebrate. The second, it feels easier to ignore.

Every death affects people differently. We’re often too polite to ask for help or don’t offer for fear of saying the wrong thing. We might be unsure of our loved ones’ wishes or be in the dark about their administrative affairs. It’s all understandable. Death is a difficult subject.

So, what can you do?

The answer is simple – it all starts with talking.

That's why we're supporting Dying Matters awareness week from 14th to 20th May, a national campaign aiming to get everyone thinking about bereavement and breaking down barriers by getting your thoughts out into the open.

Our funeral homes are taking part by running a series of interactive coffee mornings and drop-in events. They’re a chance for you to ask all those unanswered questions you’ve been too shy to tackle and to meet our friendly, sympathetic and professional colleagues.

It’s also an opportunity to mull over your future wishes such as; what’s on your bucket list? Would you like to be buried or cremated? What music would you like at your funeral?

Got you thinking?

You can discuss all of this and much more at our Dying Matters sessions.
