Follow the Mekong - Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam
£3,221 per person*
Discover the ancient heritage of three Southeast Asian treasures with a journey along the Mekong Delta before heading to Hồ Tràm’s coast for a white-sand beach retreat
Set off on a fascinating fortnight’s journey through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, starting with a stay in the bustling Thai capital, Bangkok. Experience the Royal Island’s Buddhist shrines and the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak. Pay a poignant visit to the River Kwai’s ‘Death Railway’, an infamous route used by imperial Japan in WWII, before crossing into Cambodia. An overnight stay in Battambang follows, where you’ll be immersed in the city’s rich French colonial architecture, ahead of a stop in Siem Reap. Call at the Cambodia Peace Gallery before taking in rural Kok Sangke and its local community. Conclude your time in Cambodia with an exploration of its religious sites, including the ruins of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple’s intricately carved heads, and the world-famous Angkor Wat.
After an overnight stay in Phnom Penh, and an excursion to the Tuol Sleng Museum, board a river cruise along the winding Mekong Delta into Vietnam. Wake up in Chau Doc for a day’s discovery across the foothills of Nui Sam, a sacred mountain, and trace a route along its alpine pagodas before continuing to Ho Chi Minh City. Delve into the infamous Cu Chi tunnels and head into its bustling centre for a tour of its most historic sites. From the Reunification Hall and War Remnants Memorial to the Xa Loi Pagoda, enjoy insights into Vietnam’s past. Finally, unwind with a four-day beach escape on Hồ Tràm’s pristine white-sand beaches. Sandwiched by untouched coastal stretches and a rainforest reserve, this boutique resort offers an idyllic stop.
