Key community services are being maintained in Morton as the village’s post office moves into the local Lincolnshire Co-op food store.

Morton Post Office will move to the nearby store on Bourne Road - just a three-minute walk away - following the current postmaster’s retirement.

Set to complete on Thursday 9th July, the relocation will see key services maintained for the local community, such as business and personal banking, passport checks, driving license renewal, and more.

To enable this move, the retailer has installed a new counter, positioned next to the tills. The shop remains open, with minimum disruption caused to customers.

Lindsey Wheeler, Post Office Area Manager, said: “This is a new model for us, as we were determined to find a way to maintain this essential community service.

“We operate 35 post offices in and around Lincolnshire, and we know how valued they are, so we are really proud to be introducing this new service into our Morton Food Store.”

Two new jobs have been created, with recruitment underway for Post Office Counter Clerks.

Amy Wright, Food Store Manager at Lincolnshire Co-op's Morton Bourne Food Store, said:

“Already, we’ve had some great feedback from our local community, who are really excited to see our shop gain an additional service.

“Customers can shop for all their daily essentials and benefit from post office services in one convenient location. With a car park on site, increased accessibility is another bonus.”

The search for a home for the Morton branch began in spring 2026, and the consultation period for the move began earlier this month.

Lee Taylor, Post Office Retail Change Lead, said: “We want to thank our well-established retail partner Lincolnshire Co-operative for taking on an additional branch. This will maintain vital Post Office services in Morton as the long-serving postmaster is stepping down after 18 years in the role.

“Conveniently, customers will be able to do their Post Office transactions and grocery shopping under one roof.”
