Charities providing people in need with food have received £250 in donations at the official opening of Lincolnshire Co-op's new Tritton Road Travel branch.

The stylish new £300,000 unit next to Lincoln’s M&S Foodhall provides holidaymakers with all they need when planning their perfect trip.

There are eight travel desks, a cruise lounge for those wanting to explore the oceans and a Bureau de Change so people can get currency ticked off their holiday 'to-do' list.

The branch has a modern design including a ceiling-mounted world map to help people spot destinations to explore.

An official opening was held on Monday 19th March. To help mark the occasion a donation of £250 was made to two charities - Lincoln Food Bank and Lincoln Community Larder - supported by the Mayor of Lincoln Chris Burke.

“The new Lincolnshire Co-op branch on Tritton Road is once again showing the importance of travel, encouraging people to broaden their minds and helping to bring the community together," he said.

"People will feel safe that they are travelling with an organisation they trust. The donation of money once again strengthens the position it has in supporting charities and tackling levels of poverty in our communities."

Customer Kirk Wilkinson booked a holiday at the opening, and was impressed by the branch's new look.

"The layout is modern and is very different compared to other travel agents. I feel more confident about booking here then I do online and it's nice to speak to someone face to face," he said.
