Lincolnshire Co-op's new food store in Grantham opened its doors for the first time today, offering people in the area a new shopping choice during lockdown and beyond.

The £1.5m outlet on the corner of Hanbury Avenue and Springfield Road has created 15 jobs. There’s a range of services on offer including groceries, baked goods from Lincolnshire Co-op's Gadsby’s Bakery, food-to-go options and chilled beers and wines.

It also stocks products from the Love Local range, which features goods sourced from the area, including Grantham Gingerbread, Grantham Gin and dressings from the Lincolnshire Drizzle company. The outlet features a car park and will open from 7am until 8pm, seven days a week.

It was due to open earlier in April, but this was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Food Store Manager Kieran Hitch said:“We’ve been delighted with the reaction on opening day and it’s been brilliant to meet our customers.

"Opening an outlet during this time has been a new experience for everyone and I’d like to thank my team and everyone from Lincolnshire Co-op who has helped us. I’d also like to thank the shoppers using our store who have been following all the social distancing measures in place.”

Shoppers at the store can also become Lincolnshire Co-op members. As members they’ll get a dividend card to collect dividend each time they shop in any Lincolnshire Co-op outlet. They’ll also be entitled to a range of member benefits. Become a member today by going to our membership page.

It’s the first food store in the area for the Society, joining the Barrowby Gate Pharmacy and Grantham Travel Branch – which is still taking calls from customers, though it has closed to people visiting for the moment.
