A pharmacy is welcoming customers into its new home inside a refurbished food store and filling station in Lincoln.
Winning Post Food Store and Filling Station on Carholme Road has had a major £750,000 revamp.
New fuel pumps and a canopy were installed, and changes made to the layout, ready for the filling station section of the site to reopen on Friday, 10th March.
The food store stayed open while it was given fresh fittings and facilities - including a new space for a Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacy to move into from its previous site in West Parade.
Renamed Winning Post Pharmacy, it officially opened at 8am on Monday, 13th March.
Pharmacy Manager Patrick Yeung said: “We have been waiting for so long to move down here. We have really been looking forward to it.
“Hopefully in the future we will provide even more health services and get busier.
“It’s a new beginning, a new challenge, and we’re all up for it!”
Moving the pharmacy onto the Winning Post site means patients will benefit from a larger dispensary, consultation room and seating. It also has parking and an accessible entrance.
It will open for 10.5 more hours per week – with patients able to use the service from 8am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am until 12noon on Saturdays.
Winning Post Food Store itself has been given a fresh look and facilities including an instore bakery selling treats such as freshly baked croissants, cookies and savoury bites.
Store Manager Sophie Tazzyman has worked for Lincolnshire Co-op since the age of 16 and has managed Winning Post Food Store for the last two years.
She said: “Customers are liking the refit and I have had some really good responses back from them. They particularly like the instore bakery and hot food to go.
“The pharmacy was up on West Parade before, so it’s a lot easier now for the customers to park after work, fill up, go to the pharmacy and then get their shopping for tea."
Regular customer Dick Goulson said: “It looks good, certainly better than it was. It’s more up to date and more modern.”
To celebrate the opening of the new-look site, customers who spend more than £15 on food shopping will receive a free box of chocolates between Monday 13th and Sunday 19th March.
