A new convenience store which will provide workers, shoppers and visitors with a high-quality ‘on-the-go’ retail experience in the heart of Lincoln city centre will open next month.

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Sincil Street Food Store will start serving customers at 7am on Thursday 15th August. Services will include a range of chilled and fresh meal options, takeaway drinks, snacks and hot food and self-scan tills. There will also be a water bottle refill station.

Store Manager Sharon Jones said: “We had a tour of the site recently while work was taking place. The team are all so excited about working there because it’s a new concept store for Lincolnshire Co-op.

“This ‘on-the-go’ store will provide a valued service to people using the bus and train station, city centre workers, shoppers and many more. We can’t wait to welcome our first customers through the doors!”

Lincolnshire Co-op runs a pharmacy and post office within the nearby City Square Centre.

The Society is applying for permission from NHS England to move the pharmacy to a refurbished unit at 15 Sincil Street, next to DAS Electricials. If approved, it is expected this move would take place in early 2020.

The Society aims to relocate the post office to alternative city centre premises. Ideas are still being developed and any moves won’t take place before 2020.

Eventually, the plan is to replace the City Square Centre with a new building in keeping with the rest of the Cornhill Quarter.

However, this is in the early stages of planning and currently all Lincolnshire Co-op’s services, and the tenants within the centre and along Waterside South, continue to trade as normal.
