People in Retford can book breaks and gather holiday inspiration at a new £60,000 Lincolnshire Co-op travel branch now open in the town.
The outlet in Market Square has a modern design including a ceiling-mounted map, three travel desks and a Bureau de Change to provide currency for trips away.
An official opening was held on Tuesday 19th December with Lincolnshire Co-op colleagues including President Julia Romney and Chief Executive Ursula Lidbetter. Local dignitaries and guests included the Mayor of Retford Helen Richards, deputy Michael Storey and local councillors for the area.
Two £250 charity donations also formed part of the celebrations. One has been made to Face to Face in Kilton, a local luncheon club currently benefitting from Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme. The other has been made to Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford and was presented during the travel branch’s official opening.
Bassetlaw Hospice Charity Manager Ian Hall said: “We’re currently looking at ways in which we can connect and expand our services. We’re also looking at how we get out in the community and provide support as well.
“This money will certainly be used, as always, to benefit patients in the local community, so we’re really grateful.”
Travel Group Manager Wayne Dennett said: “Our travel colleagues are independent experts and can give advice on everything from accommodation to tips on what to consider when travelling. And because we’re not tied to any single tour operator, we can offer breaks from more than 200 suppliers.
“Our friendly colleagues can also help with travel insurance, exciting excursions and even arrange airport lounge passes for a little extra luxury, so why not pop in and see Charlene and her team?”
People can sign up to become members of Lincolnshire Co-op and earn dividend when they book a holiday or shop at the Society’s outlets.
This dividend can then be spent in Lincolnshire Co-op stores or even on their next holiday. Members also get access to exclusive events, offers and discounts as well as an annual bonus.
