People will be able to step inside and see a new Lincolnshire Co-op food store in Morton for themselves when it opens next week.

The £1.2 million food store in Bourne Road in Morton has created 15 full and part-time roles for the area.

It also features lots of facilities for shoppers to enjoy including an instore bakery, hot food-to-go, chilled wines and beers and a Costa Coffee machine.

It sits on the site of a former pub and includes an 18-space car park. A pedestrian refuge has also been added to the A15 Bourne Road as part of the development.

Finishing touches are being made to the store (pictured) ready for its first day of trade on Thursday 3rd May.

Free flowers will be given to the first 50 people who visit after the store opens at 7am, and there’ll be an official opening ceremony later that morning with two local causes each receiving £500 as part of the celebrations.

During the four weeks that follow, customers who spend over £15 will have £3 taken off their total shop with a voucher.

Plus customers who spend over £20 during the store’s first week of trade will be given a Pipers Crisps tasting box containing eight different flavours of the crisps, which are part of Lincolnshire Co-op's Love Local range.

Store Manager Gavin Willson said: “The team watched as the store was being built, and now we just can’t wait to open the doors and welcome everyone in. We hope lots of people come to say hello on opening day and go home with some free flowers or Pipers crisps.

“It’s easy to become a member of Lincolnshire Co-op and all our members get more, from dividend on their shopping and a yearly bonus to great offers and competitions.

“Local good causes also receive support from members every time they shop with us through our Community Champions scheme.”

Lincolnshire-based firm Maher Millard Construction Ltd was contracted by Lincolnshire Co-op to build the food store.

Shoppers will also be able to support producers from the area by picking up goods from the Love Local range, including meat products from Deeping St James based Grasmere Farm.
