Making a difference with Macmillan

We’ve been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support to help fund vital support for local people living with cancer.
As part of our work with the charity, we visited a Macmillan Information Centre at Lincoln County Hospital to learn more about the services it offers to the community.
The information centre in Lincoln provides support without the need for an appointment, including talking through worries with nurses, reading information brochures and advice on how to explain cancer to young people.

When a patient undergoing radiotherapy for prostate cancer was struggling, he sought help through Lincoln County Hospital's Macmillan Information Centre.
Beverley Flockhark, Macmillan Information and Support Service Lead Nurse, said: “We screened him for psychological distress, and then referred him through for counselling.
“He came in a couple of weeks ago and said that he wouldn’t have got through radiotherapy without that support.”
With thanks to everyone who’s shopped with their dividend card, donated change or participated in a fundraising activity, these efforts make the world of difference to those living with cancer locally.
