We're sorry but a problem has occurred. The developers have been notified and will investigate as soon as possible.
The school holidays have arrived and we’ve thought of some fast and fun ways you can make your space greener – with a little help from the kids of course!
1. Grow your own herbs
It’s super easy to grow your own herbs inside or outside, and this time of year (between March and August) is the perfect time to start planting – plus they also make your food taste fab! You can find out more information on how to grow your own herbs here.
2. Give your vegetable scraps a new life
Recycle old scraps of veg by planting them to grow new ones. From celery and garlic to onions and potatoes, there’s loads of veggies that are easy to regrow in your own home. The kids will also enjoy eating something they’ve grown themselves – nothing tastes as good as home grown veg! You can find out more about how you can produce less waste here.
3. Sow wildflower seeds in your garden
This is super seedy and easy – just find a clear patch of soil in your garden and sprinkle away. Perfect for even the littlest of green fingers. You can purchase seed packets in our food stores throughout July and August, and the money raised will go towards local green space projects. Find out more here.
4. Make your own bug hotel
Encourage your little ones to interact with insects and make a nest for your creepy crawly guests. Stack bricks like Jenga blocks, leaving gaps to insert twigs and stones until the holes are full so there’s space for bugs to hideaway.
5. Build your own bird feeder
