Face coverings in our outlets

Face-mask-website-story-image.jpg

We’re asking our customers to be kind to our colleagues and abide by the new law on face coverings, which comes into force on Friday 24th July.

The legislation will mean that customers in supermarkets and shops – including all Lincolnshire Co-op outlets – will need to wear a face covering.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve strictly followed expert public health and government guidance on how our trading outlets should operate and how we look after our colleagues and customers.

We understand that there are exceptions on who can wear a face covering on health, age and equalities grounds and we’ve asked our teams to take this into account.

Currently, the law doesn’t require the majority of our colleagues to wear face coverings in their jobs – but we’re asking our teams to wear them in customer-facing situations.

The government has said that “wearing a face covering may reduce the spread of coronavirus droplets in certain circumstances, helping to protect others.” See more on the official guidance here.

The new law is designed to offer more protection to everyone – let’s all continue to be considerate and respectful of each other.

Thank you for supporting our hard-working colleagues.
