Devilish door decorations

Image of Halloween-decorations.JPG for Devilish door decorations

How about making these devilish door decorations to welcome (or warn) people that enter your bedroom! 😈

We've made two different types - one using a pre-bought wreath and the other made using a cardboard wreath.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Either plain wire or stringed wreath - you can buy these from any craft supplier. If you're making your wreath from cardboard you'll also need a big piece of flat, clean cardboard and 2 bowls - one bigger than the other.
  • Pencil
  • Some Halloween inspired tinsel
  • Googly ping pong eyes - available from any Halloween craft supplier - these are optional, you can use anything you like to decorate your wreath 👀
  • Glittery pumpkins - again available from any Halloween craft supplier - these are optional, you can use anything you like to decorate your wreath 🎃
  • Glue - we used a glue gun for ease but you can use any type of glue
  • Plastic spiders 🕷
  • Coloured cotton or string

WHAT TO DO:

  1. If you're making your wreath from scratch - first you'll need to take your biggest bowl and draw around it onto the piece of cardboard.
  2. Then, take your smaller bowl and place that in the middle of the circle you've just drawn and draw around that too.
  3. You'll then need to cut around both circles - be careful when cutting out the middle. You should be left with a wide hoop.
  4. Next, take either your cardboard hoop or your pre-bought one and your tinsel - using your glue to attach the end of the tinsel to the wreath - make sure it's completely stuck.
  5. Thread your tinsel through the hole and around the edges, all the way around your hoop until you cannot see the cardboard/string/wire. You can use as many different types of tinsel as you like for this.
  6. Secure the end of your tinsel by gluing it down to the cardboard/wire/string.
  7. Now it's time to decorate...you can stick anything you like onto your wreaths - we used googly ping pong eyes and plastic spiders for one and glittery pumpkins for the other - just pop a little bit of glue on the back and make sure they still well to the tinsel.
  8. Once everything is stuck on and dried, now it's time to add a little bit of cotton or string to the back of your wreath, so you can hang it up on your door. To do this, just cut a little bit of cotton/string and attached the two ends in a loop to the top back of your wreath. Make sure it's secure otherwise it'll fall off your door and give everyone a fright in the night! 👻
