Residents in Holton le Clay are benefiting from two, new benches in the village thanks to a £1,500 donation from Lincolnshire Co-op.
The suggestion came from Holton le Clay Food Store Manager, Melissa Ford, who recognised that older people were finding it difficult to walk around the expanding village as there was nowhere to stop and rest along the way.
Her idea was then catapulted into reality thanks to the help of Lindum Group contractors, Lincolnshire Co-op colleagues and Holton le Clay Parish Council, who advised on locations for the benches.
“I’m so pleased that my idea has come to life”, said Melissa.
“The benches are a great addition to the village and are in lovely spots for people to take a break.
“I hope that they’ll be used by plenty of passers-by and encourage older people to get out and about now that they have somewhere to rest.”
