Like many foodbanks up and down the country, Boston Foodbank is providing crucial support to families and individuals in crisis by handing out parcels full of essential items.
Every week, they hand out around 30 parcels of nutritionally balanced emergency food, each one being enough to sustain the family or individual for three days.
Alongside this, they can provide things such as hygiene products, laundry products, and pet food, if necessary.
They have also partnered with local charity, Citizens Advice Mid Lincolnshire, who can offer important advice on things such as housing, debt, benefits, immigration, and more.
Our Travel’s Toy Bank scheme means that as well as receiving food, hygiene products, and important advice, families will be able to pick out a present for their children this festive season.
The charity were the recipients of toys from the scheme last year as well, and gave out toys and gifts to 83 families.
Throughout the year, our travel colleagues have been giving holidaymakers the option to make a monetary donation of £1 to our Travel’s Toy Bank scheme when booking their holiday.
These funds are used to buy toys for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who may not otherwise receive any presents at Christmas.
Currently, our travel branches are also accepting donations of new gifts or toys, which will be combined with those purchased using the money raised.
The toys will be distributed to families by local charities or good causes, including Boston Foodbank.
Bob Taylor, Manager at Boston Foodbank, said: “It was great to be able to help so many families last year, and I hope we’re able to do the same again this year.
“It meant a lot to those receiving the presents, and we saw a lot of emotional responses. They came to collect their food parcel, only to find that they could receive so much more.
“This was made possible by the local people, who made those donations. Thank you very much!”
