Every year, throughout December, we invite people to donate a different item to their local food bank every day from 1st - 24th December by popping items in the collection bins in our food stores.

Food Bank Advent 2022

We want to say a massive ✨thank you to everyone who donated to their local food banks throughout December.

Whether you helped contribute to over £4.5K in dividend and monetary donations or donated food and essential items in our food stores, you helped to support many families and individuals in your community through your local food bank.

If like William (below), you were able to #Givealittlesomething🎁 we are incredibly grateful.

William donated to Agape Care food bank, using his own pocket money to purchase items at our Gosberton food store.

Over the Christmas holiday, William's headteacher set the challenge to do something for the community. After a lot of thought, he decided to donate to his local food bank.

"This was all Williams's idea. He knew to look for offers to be able to purchase as many items as possible. I said if he spent £2.50 I would match his amount. In total, he spent £5.00 on pot noodles, cereals, pasta and sauces

Myself and my husband were very proud of him. We have now said that each month we will, as a family, donate a couple of items to the Food bank. Something so small can have such a huge impact for someone."

How does it work?

Last year we encouraged colleagues, members and customers to #GiveALittleSomething 🎁 and donate items of food and other essentials to their local food banks.

Food banks provide vital support for people who are having a hard time. That's why throughout December 2022 we supported them by promoting a Food Bank Advent Calendar.

We invited people to donate a different item to their local food bank every day from 1st - 24th December 2022 by popping items in the collection bins in our food stores.

Some created their own collection box at home, work or school to build up their advent calendar items. These were then donated to their local food bank in the new year – when they may have struggled for donations after the Christmas surge.

Many members donated their dividend too. They were able to add it to their shop at the checkout.

Please find details below of the local food banks we supported.

Where's my local food bank?

We teamed up with local food banks and community larders across the county and beyond in December 2022. Find details here of your nearest food bank, should you wish to drop off any donations:

We visited Clipstone Food Hub

Clipstone Food Hub has supported its local community and surrounding areas for two years. This family of volunteers help over 50 families every week.

We’re currently supporting the hub – and many other causes - through our food bank advent calendar. #GiveALittleSomething 🎁
