Tonic Health, established in 2016, is an esteemed charitable organisation focused on promoting health and wellbeing. It serves as a lifeline in Spalding and the neighbouring regions, offering essential assistance. In 2022, we extended our support to Tonic Health via our Community Champions initiative.

Founded in 2016, Tonic Health is an award-winning health and wellbeing charity that provides vital support within Spalding and surrounding areas, striving to relieve those in need by reason of ill-health, youth, financial difficulty, disability, or age.

It runs a variety of projects and services to support the needs of the local community such as the Community Café, Tea & Toast mornings, listening and signposting services, and the Night Light Café.

Tonic Health received £3642 through the Community Champions scheme. This funding was put towards the Night Life Café, which is an initiative that runs twice a week from Spalding and Holbeach to provide non-clinical out of hours support to those struggling with their mental health.

Ruth Taplin, Safe Places Co-ordinator at Tonic Health said: “We have many great volunteers for the Night Light Café in Spalding, but unfortunately we’ve struggled with volunteer numbers in Holbeach, and it can’t run with just a single person in the building.”

“The money raised has enabled us to pay for somebody so that there are at least two people every night. Without that money we would have to keep closing that important service. It’s helped us to keep the door open to people in need, which is incredible.

“We weren’t expecting the amount of funding we received, it was amazing. We all work so hard and care deeply about the people who use our services, so we’re extremely proud that our organisation has been chosen as one to highlight in the Community Champions celebration.”
