The role of a travel agent is an exciting one! From long haul trips of a lifetime, to family friendly breaks, or even romantic getaways, your primary task is to create memories for your customers and make their dreams come true. This apprenticeship is ideal for anyone who has a passion for travel and holidays and wants to launch their career in the travel industry.
During this 15 month training scheme you will be working towards achieving a Level 3 apprenticeship as a Travel Consultant. The majority of this qualification is assessed within the workplace and through professional discussion and completion of a portfolio.
Your training will start on your first day of employment, when you attend our induction to learn more about us and what we do. During your first week with us, you’ll get to meet your new team and will learn all about your programme and what we’ll expect from you. Within the first few weeks, you’ll get the chance to meet other apprentices in your cohort so that you can build your network of contacts.
The rest of your programme is structured in modules and covers a comprehensive range of subjects. Each module of your programme includes on the job and off the job training and you will attend a number of courses, hosted virtually as well as spending some time undertaking self-study. Some of the modules you will cover include, resolving customer problems, understanding customers and customer retention, and understanding the customer service environment. Your programme will also involve training opportunities with key suppliers which will further help to expand your knowledge of the Travel industry.
Throughout the programme you will have regular reviews with your line manager, alongside other meetings with your college assessor and mentor.
Excellent customer service and confidence is essential for the role of a Travel Apprentice as a large part of the job involves interacting with customers to find exactly what they want and ensure their holiday is tailored to them. Our travel branches are busy so you must like working in a fast-paced environment.
On successful completion of the travel apprenticeship programme you will be a fully qualified travel consultant working in one of our travel branches.
If you’ve excelled during your apprenticeship you may be given the opportunity to become one of our travel specialists or even offered further training opportunities to become an assistant branch manager or even a branch manager!
You may even have the opportunity to study further for one of our degree-level apprenticeships!
