Meet our apprentices

Apprenticeships are a great way to earn a wage while you learn, pick up new skills and gain valuable experience.

Check out what our apprentices have to say...

Daniel Patchett

Business Admin Apprentice, Daniel Patchett

"I’m currently studying towards a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration. I started this in September and was employed into the role."

"I really enjoy working with data and spreadsheets, so this seemed like a great opportunity to do something that I wanted to develop a career in."

"I’ve learned so much in such a short space of time. But some of the skills that I can already see a great level of development in is my communication and listening skills. Doing this apprenticeship has taught me that its not only just about building my understanding of business but is also about helping to build and develop my softer skills."

"I’ve had a great level of support from my course tutors from Boston College and also my team in Payroll. I’ve learned that no question is a silly question, and everyone has been so supportive in helping me to succeed."

Team Leader apprentice, Tom Cullen

"I’m currently studying for a Level 3 apprenticeship in Team Leading. I started the course in May 2019 as part of a wider development programme to help colleagues on the road to a career in management."

"So far, I’ve learned a great deal about leadership skills and what makes a great leader. The apprenticeship has offered me an opportunity to immerse myself in some fantastic learning experiences that have helped me to develop my interpersonal skills and build my confidence."

"My colleagues, my tutors and our Learning & Development team can’t offer enough support as they encourage everyone to be their best and to succeed by giving feedback that is both constructive and empowering."

"An apprenticeship is a great way to develop skills for life at a level of education that suits the learner. Furthermore, I’m earning a fair wage and I feel valued in the role and supported at every turn to succeed. I simply couldn’t ask for any more."

Pollyanna Travel Apprentice 2

Travel apprentice, Pollyanna Dickson

"I’m currently enrolled on a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship with Loughborough College. I joined as an apprentice in August 2018."

"I’d always wanted to get into Travel and learn about the industry, and when I saw the vacancy, I submitted my application as I saw it as a perfect opportunity. After an interview process, I found I had been successful and haven’t looked back since."

"I’ve learned a lot about sales which has helped me to build my confidence in dealing with customers. The apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to learn about places I’ve never been to before and inspired me to think about my next holiday abroad!"

"This is a fantastic way to improve skills and knowledge and get a qualification while earning a wage."

"Nothing has been too much trouble for my colleagues, tutors and our Learning and Development team while I’ve been on the apprenticeship course. Everyone is committed to seeing you succeed, and I’ve felt encouraged every step of the way."

Sasha Peall Pharamcy Apprentice Jpg Jpg Small

Pharmacy Technician, Sasha Peall

"I joined the Society in September 2017 as a Pharmacy apprentice. I was studying for a Level 3 qualification in Health Pharmacy Services. I’ve since completed the course and in December 2019 I registered with the GPHC and I’m now a Pharmacy Technician."

"I’ve developed some of my key skills in communication and working as part of a team, as well as developing technical skills about the different types of medication that are available. There’s so much I’ve gained from being an apprentice and I feel that without this I wouldn’t have the confidence I have today’.

"I’ve had all the time I’ve needed to complete the course during work time and had the benefit of being surrounded by others who had completed the same apprenticeship. I felt that I was able to ask questions and advice knowing that others understood exactly what I needed to succeed."

"I’d encourage anyone thinking about becoming an apprentice to go for it! It’s a great way to learn and develop a career while studying towards earning a qualification."
