Pulling together to help Wainfleet

Lincolnshire Co-op colleagues have pulled together to help the community in Wainfleet following recent flooding in the area.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated as the River Steeping broke its banks and floodwater entered homes. People have now been allowed to return home, however the water has caused much damage.

The Society runs a number of outlets in the areas surrounding Wainfleet including in Skegness and Spilsby. The closest is its Burgh le Marsh Food Store.

Colleagues from Burgh le Marsh Food Store collected food donations from customers and gave many items themselves. They also provided cleaning products and a number of bags which make the donations easy to distribute.

They then hand-delivered it all to volunteers in Wainfleet so it could be given out - what an inspiring effort.

Lincolnshire Co-op also donated £2,000 to the Wainfleet Flood Appeal.

Money donated to the fund will provide community support and may even be used to help guard against future loss or damage from flooding.
