Our apprenticeship scheme

Main -apprentice

We believe that apprenticeships are a way of attracting talented and enthusiastic employees to come and work for Lincolnshire Co-op.

Apprenticeships also give young people who want to develop their skills the chance to earn a wage while they learn, both on the job and through training.

We have a number of apprentices in our business working in areas including food, pharmacy and transport.

The training programmes, which the Society runs alongside Boston College and Nottinghamshire Castle College, vary between 18 months and two years.

On-the-job training for food retail and pharmacy apprentices includes working at different stores and branches in Society’s trading area. They also spend time in alternative parts of the business, like our home stores and head office, to learn more about Lincolnshire Co-op as a whole.

All the apprentices take internal courses in relevant subjects including alcohol awareness, food hygiene, customer service skills and first aid at work. They study for nationally recognised qualifications as well. In food, that’s a Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail Skills and in pharmacy, it is a BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science.

See what two of our apprentices have got to say about the programme by clicking on the links about Adam Smith and Anna Dunn. And you can also find out what happened when apprentice Esther Odunewu got to spend the day with our Chief Executive Ursula Lidbetter.
