Healthy Habits is a joint initiative between Lincolnshire Co-operative and Lincoln City Football in the Community. It enables local Primary and Special School pupils and staff around Lincolnshire to participate in cross-curricular workshops and exercise programmes to help encourage a healthier lifestyle through exercise and diet.
The day comprises of 3 sessions:
Session 1
The Food Plate
(Hall based activity 40-60 mins depending on keystage)
Pupils identify, sort and categorise food, they discuss healthy and unhealthy foods and identify how certian foods are beneficial if included in their daily diet.
Session 2 The Pasta Package
(Classroom based 60 mins)
The class is split into groups to respond to a challenge of creating a new pasta package for a leading company whose sales have fallen. Each group has to trade with others to design a new package to include 'Nutritional information'. Pupils will use numeracy, persuasive language, logos, slogans and Co-operative skills.
Session 3 Football based activities
(Hall based depending on weather 40-75 mins)
Pupils learn about the need to warm up and cool down when exercising to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
