Sponsorship is big news for brass band
Lincolnshire Co-operative’s £6,000 sponsorship boost is music to the ears of one popular Lincoln brass band.
We have pledged to support the Lincoln Beevor Band Organisation over the next three years, giving the group £2,000 per year.
There are around 80 musicians who play in either the Beevor Youth Band or the Lincoln Beevor Band, the senior section.
The aim of the band, which is a registered charity, is to enable people to learn an instrument at minimal cost.
People who want to give brass band music a go are offered the free loan of an instrument and free tuition on a Sunday morning. Those who make the grade are then offered a place in the Youth Band and eventually will progress to the Beevor Band.
President of the Lincoln Beevor Band Tony Thornley said: “We are more than happy with Lincolnshire Co-operative’s support - we are delighted. It really helps secure the future of the band.”
Lincolnshire Co-operative’s Membership and Community Manager Sam Turner said: “We are a community retailer, owned by our members. As a result, we like to be able to support good causes which benefit our community, such as the Lincoln Beevor Band.”
